Description:

Abstract:

This dataset is a digital elevation model (DEM) grid developed in July 2000 by St Johns River Water management District Staff that represents the Florida peninsula. The 5-foot-contour data from SJRWMD, SWFWMD,SRWMD and SFWMD were used in the creation of this data set. The source topography dates vary from the 1940's to the 1970's.

Purpose: The dataset was developed for cartographic applications.

Additionally, there are 24 elevation grids for the counties within the The District and contiguous to the boundary. These county grids are of data type float and are derived from clipping elev-flt. The elev-flt grid is a floated data type grid created from elev. The county dem grids are available in Arc/Info export format. Also a image of the grid is avalable in MrSID format. Process_Description:

The digital elevation model (DEM) grids were developed using a custom aml that incorporated the CREATETIN and TINLATTICE commands to create a tin representing the surface of the entire state peninsula. Source data for the grid was the 5-foot-contours provided from SJRWMD, SWFWMD, SRWMD, and SFWMD. Acqusition dates for this topography varied from 1940 to the 1970's. The tin was then converted into a grid with a cell size of 30 meters. Other grids created included an interger grid, aspect, hillshade, slope_degree, and slope_percent grids. Grids of 24 counties were also created from clipping the original grid.
