The feature class represents the individual parcels that were acquired by the District as conservation lands.
To provide a casastral ownership map of the parcels that make up the District's conservation areas and provide historical reference of the acquisitions made. The parcels have been mapped as accurately as possible but are not at or intended to meet Florida statutes for surveys.
Boundaries for the parcels are based on COGO of legal descriptions from deeds and surveys provided at closing for each parcel. In some cases manual adjustments were made to fit adjacent parcels with one another. Particularly in situations where a parcel adjoined one with COGO metes and bound description from a survey. QA information for each parcel is included in the field attributes. On contractor mapped parcels additional information is available including traverses in the original delivered geodatabase feature class. Parcels were reprojected from Stateplane NAD83 East to UTM HARN zone 17N by District staff. NOTE: the different scale factors associated with the transformation of data from State Plane to UTM coordinate system may cause differences in the total acres calculated for each parcel. In most cases this difference is negligable but may exceed 0.1% on large tracts of land. Lands received by the District via transfer from the Central and South Florida Flood Control District in 1977 (LA numbers prefixed 1977-xxx-P1) were mapped solely from legal description provided with little or no geodetic control and are estimated boundary locations. Whenever possible these parcels were adjusted to parcels with metes and bounds descriptions and/or better control. These parcel are primarily found in the following conservation areas: Canaveral Marshes CA; Three Forks CA; Bull Creek WMA; riverLakes CA and Triple-N-Ranch.
