Abstract:
This is general metadata for 2009 natural color and color infrared orthophotography covering large portions of the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), in MrSID format. Detailed metadata is associated with each image tile; it addresses topics such as process steps and specific acquistion (flight) dates.
The District's main objective was to acquire natural color and color infrared orthophotography so that, in combination with county governments and state agencies, the District has complete coverage for the 2009 flight season. The cell size for most of the imagery is 1 foot; some sections have a 1.5 foot cell size. Image tile-level metadata defines the cell size for individual image tiles.
The flight dates primarily range from December 2008 through March 2009. However, a portion of Osceola County only has flight dates from January 2008.
The imagery was collected for SJRWMD by two contractors: 3001, Inc. and The Atlantic Group, LLC.
Purpose:
The primary driving force for this acquisition is land cover mapping, although this imagery has also become the standard basemap for the District's Geographic Information System.
Supplemental_Information:
The imagery was collected with digital sensors and the project conforms to the Orthophotography Specifications in the statewide "Baseline Specifications for Orthophotography and LiDAR, v. 1.2." as posted on the Florida Division of Emergency Management web page <http://floridadisaster.org/gis/lidar/>, with three general exceptions:
1. For this project, color infrared imagery was acquired (the statewide specifications state that color infrared imagery is optional). 2. If the image resolution will be something other than one foot, exceptions to the specifications regarding accuracy requirements, imagery resolution, and deliverable tiling scheme may be made, as long as changes to the statewide specifications are documented by the Consultant and approved by the District. 3. The number of independently surveyed image checkpoints required may differ from the number stated in the statewide specifications, due to differences in the size of the project area.
The spatial reference is Florida State Plane (units feet), NAD83(90) (HARN), with the exception of Osceola County, which is NAD83(86). The State Plane Zone is either East, West, or North, depending upon the county.
