Title: IRL 2015 Seagrass Mapping Metadata
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form: map
Description:
Abstract:
The Indian river Lagoon (IRL) Seagrass Mapping Project covers 1951 square kilometers and includes Mosquito Lagoon north to Ponce de Leon Inlet, Banana River Including Newfound Harbour, Indian River Proper including Turnbull Creek up to US 1, Banana Creek up to Route 3, St. Lucie River up to the Roosevelt Bridge, and the lagoonal system from St. Lucie Inlet south to Jupiter Inlet including Hobe and Jupiter Sounds. Portions of the project area occur in Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach Counties in Florida. Dewberry produced Ortho Mosaics for 1435 tiles covering this area. The orthos were created with a 0.3 meter cell size.
Purpose:
The mapping and trend analysis performed under this project provides quantifiable data vital to the assessment of water quality and the general health of the estuarine system. The resultant data provides an overall picture of the seagrass resource in the IRL over time. The maps serve as important management tool for assessing distribution trends of the seagrass resource. They help identify healthy areas that may deserve special protection efforts along with potential problem areas that require further investigation.
Supplemental_Information:
A complete description of this dataset is available in the Final Project Report submitted to St. Johns River Water Management District.

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
The required accuracy is 2 m or better at the 95% confidence level as computed in accordance with the FGDC National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA).
Quantitative_Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Assessment:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Value: 2 meter
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Explanation:
All locations were occupied once with some of the locations being re-observed. All re-observations matched the initially derived station positions within the allowable tolerance of plus or minus 5cm or within the 95% confidence level. 2 m or better at the 95% confidence level as computed in accordance with the FGDC National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA).

Process_Description:
The color digital aerial imagery was captured on May 8, 9, 12, 21, 22, 29, June 1, 5, 14, 18, 19, 26, 2015 with a Vexcel UultraCam Eagle airborn digital sensor. The aerotriangulation project for the area of interest was set up as a single image block of 13 adjacent and overlapping flight lines comprised of a total of 767 images and horizontally controlled with a combination of airborne GPS INS data and surveyed control points. As orthoimagery is a 2 dimensional representation of the earths surface no vertical component to the control was extracted. The vertical component of the AT process was controlled solely by the airborne GPS INS solution.
Process_Date: 8/17/15
Process_Step:
Process_Description:
The Raw imagery along with the DEM, AT, Camera calibration information were ingested into Image Station Orthopro. Orthorectified photos were then created. Seamlines were placed along natural and man made features that would mosaic the ortho images together based on a supplied tile grid.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
St. John’s River and the South Florida Water Management Districts both performed quality assurance reviews on completed photo interpretation. In addition, field collected accuracy assessment points were collected under a seperate task that the District used to compare to the completed map. The final mapped data was deemed acceptable by both SFWMD and SJRWMD and Dewberry’s maps passed their rigorous accuracy assessment testing.
