Abstract:
This dataset represents point elevation data for Lake Jesup in the Middle St. Johns River Basin. This is the original raw data file for the transects. Data is based on deliverables by a contract conducted by ARC Surveying and Mapping, Inc in March 1996. However, this actual point dataset was created in January 2003. The original bathymetric data was sampled between October-November 1995. The title of the final report is: "Hydrographers Report for: Bathymetry Survey and Mapping of Lake Jesup Located in Seminole County, Florida." Lake bottom depth measurements were recorded using a Knudsen 320M recording fathometer. The analog records were annotated with automatic event marks logged with tie, vessel state plane coordinates, depths, digital file name and header information. Also, daily bar check calibrations of the fathometer were recorded on the analog record at the beginning and end of each survey day to verify that the fathometer was reading true depths. One hundred and six transect lines were collected on a 300 foot grid pattern running east and west across Lake Jesup. Quadrangle maps were obtained and used for digitizing the limits and the boundary of the lake. This report could be found in the SJRWMD library as of January 2003. The contract was managed by Hector Herrera of the Division of Project Management.

The original projection was State Plane East NAD27 feet. ArcToolbox was used to define the projection of the points, and then re-project to SJRWMD projection (NAD83 HARN UTM Zone 17, meters).
