Description:
Abstract:
Layer represents points for the top of sediment layer in Lake Harney. Data was collected as part of a bathymetric and sediment thickness survey conducted by MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc during the summer of 2004. Details about data collection and procedures can be found in the report resulting from this contract.
The survey was conducted in several phases. The first phase was to bring survey control within the project area. On-site control positions were approximated by using aerial photographs and then further investigating by ground thruthing. Precast 4"x4" concrete monuments with 3" aluminum ST JOHNS'R RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT discs stamped with unique identifiers were set within the project network. This network was measured using GPS observations in static mode.
The second phase was to capture both upland and open-water data for sediment thickness calculations. This phase was divided into two separate data collection operations: an open-water task and a nearshore-overbank task. The final phase was to compile all data collected and have it presented in GIS format. Three set of contours were created: top of sediment, bottom of sediment and sediment thickness.

Purpose:
The objective of this survey was to support the SJRWMD in its goal of reducing pollutants in the middle basin by conducting a bathimetric survey to depict and list bottom contours, sediment thickness and volumes.
