SOURCE: The data was produced from true-color positive transparency film in a 9-inch format, exposed on April 10, 1986. Seagrass cover was separated into four density classes. Ground-truthing was conducted between May and August 1986 by Seagrass Ecosystems Analysts (Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties) and the Brevard Office of Natural Resource Management using divers towed along transects. Photo-interpretation was conducted by Bionetics Corporation (Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties) and Brevard Office of Resource Management. Digitization and compilation was conducted in-house. This seagrass data reflects conditions existing on the date of photography and is subject to all limitations normally associated with the creation of maps from interpreted aerial photographs.
QA STATUS: Each quad has been through topological and attribute accuracy qa. The datasets were put through a secondary QA by Michael Tepera and Ron Brockmeyer. Extraneous fresh water bodies were eliminated. Areas out side of Indian River Lagoon and Mosquito Lagoon were not kept because of the lack of relevant data in these areas. Non seagrass polygons were eliminated through this process:
1. Append seagrass quads into one coverage. 2. arc level RESELECT on polys w/DENSITY ge 1 and le 5. 3. code all other polys (land) as DENSITY = 0. 4. DISSOLVE quad boundaries. 5. eliminate relic quad boundaries. 6. edit for miscodings on polys that cut across quad boundaries. Discrepancies were verified after a re- interpretation of source imagery. 7. CLEAN with a tolerance and weed of .46 feet. 8. BUILD into polygon topology 9. shade by item DENSITY and plot for visual check. 10. submit to /gislib
